Tidus won't bat the hand away, or move his own. Lets Taiki have it, more for him than himself, giving the guy a smile.
"Okay then! Maybe it'll even be relaxing - and gives more excuses to hang out with you doing your thing than dragging you into mine." Like ping pong, baking... everything.
"Do you know anything about brush work? Like...writing with brushes, just to write! Apparently, it's an art too?"
He didn't need excuses to hang out with Tidus. It was something he loved doing. So it was no hardship at all for him to spend time with him.
He tilted his head before nodding. "Yes. It's how they write in Tai." In the palace at least. "I was learning... Before I came to the train. We don't write like that on Earth... Or well... You can. But it's only an art... trasditional."
"Do you wanna pick it up again? Wei Wuxian's teaching me." ... --oh. "One of them," he adds, very unhelpfully until- "The one without the tail."
There we go.
"I bet you'd be great at it! He's teaching me for- did I tell you?" He remembers talking to Taiki about this in Osiga, but goes on anyway. "--Well, he's teaching me 'cause you can make it into a skill. We wanna make wards to protect camps and stuff. Maybe it'll be easier than that maths magic that one person was teaching us way back. --'Cept, you're not supposed to call this magic."
Tidus shakes his head as he shares that last part, waving his free hand too. Not-magic.
"I forget what's best to call it... a craft? You can ask Jingyi. He was telling me about it."
"Ah." He nodded, there were indeed more than one Wei Wuxian. Though luckily they did not look identical. "Yes... They don't call it magic even though to us it is..." But it was always best to use the words other people asked of you, rather than put ideas of their own worlds on to others.
"I'd like to learn. If we can make wards... I should be able to do that..."
As long as they weren't the type to harm any intruders. If they were just alarms. It would be a way to help.
"Cool!" This has to be the most excited he's been about these wards in a while; the concept helpful, but ugh, does Tidus have no natural talent for this thing. He raises his hand with his arms band around it - luckily, the one Taiki isn't holding.
"Lemme show you what I've been doing." --And poof, an envelope appears. He takes his other hand back just so he can tip the papers inside into that hand, put them on his lap, Chinese characters greeting them on view.
Some rather nice ones, first, and Tidus taps the paper. "This is what Wei Wuxian showed me to practice. See? He even split up the strokes - you have to get them just right."
"Uh huh." Here, he moves the paper; passing over Wei Wuxian's examples, and then the whole bunch of his own. There's one, kinda okay at the front, and then a few more messy versions next to it.
He's slowly going through a few of the pages - blotchy and big in ink.
"I do it with Wuxian, but then I do it by myself, in my spare time." Which he had plenty of. "I have to make them look just right. Wuxian says I'm getting there, but I'm not there yet."
A perfectionist for a teacher. But then, at least the guy has a good attitude about it.
Still, Tidus huffs, a chuckle. "Looks like something a priest in a temple would be doing, not me."
Heh! "No, but I'm more used to priests! After going around Spira. But he's a...cultivator. Like Jingyi, right? I think everyone from their worlds are cultivators."
Or adjacent worlds. Related worlds? Close to the same things. Regardless, Tidus brings out his ink brush's case and the ink itself. Places the ink to set on the paper, while he opens up the case for his brush.
"This is what I use! You can borrow mine, see how you like doing it before buying your own. So it's not a waste."
Speaking of ideas: "I'll just bring you along the next time I sit with Wuxian! He won't mind. He's pretty relaxed about everything."
"I think so too... They must have non cultivators... But..." None on the train. He watched as Tidus brought out more things, the brush and the ink and he smiled softly. He of course was interested in trying out this art but it seemed like he got little choice regardless. Tidus is just like that. His enthusiasm was infectious.
He nodded, "I think I am done. I didn't have much to put away."
The main thing was getting Gyōkō settled and that's done. The jerboa doesn't seem to have noticed much change in living quarters. He's happily snuffling around his crate as ever.
"Hang out, if you're in the mood." He kicks up one of his legs in a bored motion. "I'll even come with you, if you wanna draw. Do you have anything else you like doing?"
Maybe Tidus should know, but... a lot of what he sees Taiki does are the things he drags Taiki into, sooo!
"Um... I mostly just spend time with people..." Tidus and Inigo for the most part. Doing whatever they are doing. He likes spending time with them and letting them drag him into things.
"So we can draw... Or did you want to play something?"
What should they do? Draw? Or play? Drawing is very Taiki-like, and Tidus wants to do something interesting to Taiki than just what he'd like. But oh, what if--
"Oh, I know - have you tried those flying simulators in the games room? Like flying a spaceship."
"Maybe if I got to play them more often," he admits after a moment of thought. That was the real issue. "I don't get to much. It's not as fun on your own. And I don't like asking people that often to go up and play VR with me."
Well, not and then. But he could probably do it more.
"Sure, okay! Don't think he had too much trouble the last time we all played. He was worried he'd break the controllers, the first time he played," Tidus explains, for context. "But we had a game with him and Sizhui. I think both of them at the time...?"
Well, it was a while back.
"Wanna go find them? I bet they're not up to anything important."

Watch as the blitzball becomes something recognisable as a blitzball. ...or watch Tidus get funky with it.

And then that could be disastrously in a ward.
"Have you been practising?"
Since this wasn't even Tidus' language he would have to work even harder to get it right.
